BOSTON GIFT SHOW NAMES MASSACHUSETTS BAY TRADING COMPANY PRIDE OF NEW ENGLAND AWARD WINNER
INNER WHITE PLAINS, NY -- April 24, 2008 -- The Boston Gift Show®, New England’s premier marketplace for regionally-produced gifts and decorative accessories, has named Massachusetts Bay Trading Company as one of four winners in the 2008 Pride of New England Awards competition. The Weston, MA-based online store was selected for excellence in customer service, creative merchandising and community involvement. The store was recognized during the Pride of New England Awards Ceremony on Saturday, April 5, 2008, at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.
“Massachusetts Bay Trading Company was selected not only for its exceptional business practices, but also for its demonstration of New England pride,” said Tony Orlando, show manager. “This store has set a high precedent in its community for quality service, while fostering appreciation for the region.”
Massachusetts Bay Trading Company has demonstrated its New England pride from the very beginning – by launching on Patriot’s Day in 2002. Owners Bob and Beth Nilsson wanted to feature a web store that would not only showcase Massachusetts and New England products, but also serve as a source for local history, culture, artistry, crafts and manufacturing. The web store allows customers to shop by region – including Nantucket, Cape Cod, Cape Ann, Boston, The Berkshires and New Hampshire – or they can browse by artist or craftsman. Additional information is available online, at www.massbaytrading.com.
The remaining winners are: Chatham T Company, (Chatham, MA); Cottage Designs (Ocean Park, ME); and Domaine Gallery (Portland, ME).
Competition judges were Tony DeMasi, editor, Souvenirs, Gifts & Novelties; Caroline Kennedy, executive editor, Gifts & Decorative Accessories; John Saxtan, editor, Giftware News; Rick Segel, retail expert, Rick Segel & Associates; Joyce Washnik, publisher & editor, Giftbeat; and Dave Woodside, president, Acadia Corporation.
The 161st semi-annual Boston Gift Show will run September 7-9, 2008, at Boston’s Seaport World Trade Center. The Show is expected to attract some 4,000 retailers, and will present 250 exhibitors throughout four divisions: Gifts, Etc., Handmade®, Made in New England and Souvenir Source.
